ABS has invested US$1 million to acquire Transporter Courier Services. The acquisition is complete, and Transporter continues to serve its clients under its own brand as Transporter — Powered by ABS.
An established operator
Founded in 2014, Transporter has built an established e-commerce client base, a recognised brand and a team whose expertise was developed within the company. ABS had followed Transporter for some time and chose to acquire an established operator rather than rely on organic growth alone.
“Experience gives a company something money alone cannot buy, because it takes years to build,” said Mohamed El-Demerdash, Chairman of ABS. “Transporter’s people, their loyalty to the company and their relationships with clients were built over twelve years. We respect what they have achieved, and our role is to build on it.”
E-commerce logistics: a priority for growth
Since 2001, ABS has built a strong position serving corporate, banking, diplomatic and institutional clients, alongside its international services. E-commerce logistics is now a priority growth area for ABS.
Transporter adds courier experience, operating capacity, an existing network and workforce, and know-how that would take considerable time to reproduce organically.
Two brands, one operating network
ABS and Transporter remain separate brands, each serving its own clients, supported by one integrated operating network led by ABS. Core operations already run on that network, and the wider integration programme is expected to be completed over the coming months.
Where Transporter previously relied on third-party agents in many governorates, its shipments now move largely through ABS’s own branches, vehicles, couriers and line-haul network.
The difference is already measurable. A returned shipment that could previously take seven to ten days to reach the client can now be delivered back within two to three days of the final delivery attempt, even from distant governorates.
Technology at the core
Technology is one of the main strengths ABS brings. Its platform, built on more than two decades of operating experience, supports a wide range of logistics products and client types.
Transporter’s clients now gain greater visibility and clearer operational and financial tracking, and both brands can broaden and improve their services efficiently.
A new model for the market
Egypt’s courier sector remains fragmented, and ABS believes closer operational integration between operators can build stronger, more sustainable companies.
Running two brands on one operating platform is a new model for our market.
“When ABS entered this industry, the model in Egypt was still developing. Taking on difficult steps that make us stronger is part of who we are,” El-Demerdash said. “We believe running two brands on one operating platform is a new model for our market, and one that can show the sector a different way to grow.”
Looking ahead
Over the next five years, ABS aims to reinforce its position in Egypt, build a much stronger presence in e-commerce logistics and continue its international growth, particularly across the Middle East.
